How to Read This Comparison
The comparison tool above displays buy and sell rates from all Egyptian banks for your selected currency. The buy rate is what the bank pays you when you sell foreign currency, while the sell rate is what you pay the bank when buying foreign currency. The difference between them is called the "spread" and represents the bank's profit margin. A lower spread generally means a better deal for you.
The gap between the best and worst rates across Egyptian banks can reach 2% or more during volatile periods. For a $10,000 conversion, that difference can translate to savings of hundreds of Egyptian Pounds. Large state-owned banks like the National Bank of Egypt and Banque Misr typically offer competitive rates due to their high transaction volumes, but smaller banks sometimes offer better rates to attract customers.
For the best results, check rates during banking hours (8:30 AM to 2:00 PM, Sunday through Thursday) when rates are updated most frequently. Keep in mind that displayed rates are indicative and should be confirmed directly with the bank before transacting. To track how rates move over time, visit the Rate History page.
